1. Define Roles and Permissions?

  • Definitions: 
    • Roles: are predefined permissions related to a specific task or responsibility within the WiQ application. Roles group users according to their job function, streamlining permission management. For example: Administrator
    • Permissions: permissions are specific authorizations that define what actions a user can perform within the system. Permissions control access to resources and operations, ensuring users can only perform actions relevant to their role. For example: Create, read, update, or delete.
    • WiQ Roles and Permissions: WiQ has foundational Roles and Permissions built into the application. These Roles and Permissions cannot be changed or modified by users. They include:
      • Admin
      • Generator Operator
      • Landfill Operator
      • Operator Without Approval
      • Receiver Operator
    • Custom Roles and Permissions: superusers can create custom roles that are specific to their organization and the type of permissions you would super users would like users to have.


2. Access the Roles and Permissions Section 

  • From the main page, click on 'Profile' and then select 'My Company' to access the Company Management page.
  • Click the 'Users and Roles' section select the 'Roles' tab.
  • On this page, you can view all roles, including both WiQ-generated and custom roles, and the permissions associated with each role.
  • View the Roles and Permissions existing in your company account

3. Create a Custom Role and Assign Permissions

  • Click '+ Add New' to start creating a new custom role.

  • Under the System Roles list, click '+ Add New'. Enter a name for the role by typing in 'Role Name' field.

  • Assign permissions to this role:

    • Review the available permissions by selecting the Landfill or Midstream module. This will filter the list for available permissions. Scroll through the list or use the search field to find specific permissions.
    • Click the blue '+' button to add this permission to the role. The permission will move to the 'Selected Permissions' list on the right. To remove a permission, click the red (-) icon.
    • Click 'Add Role' to create the New Role with assigned Permissions.

4. Edit a Custom Role

  • Navigate to the System role that requires an edit. Click 'Edit' in the permissions list. A pop-up will appear, allowing the superuser to change the name of the role, or add and remove permissions.

  • Click 'Save' to apply the changes.

5. Delete a Custom Role

  • In the permissions list, click 'Delete'. A pop-up will appear, requesting you to confirm that you want to delete the role.
