Instructions:
1. Select the Waste Description
- To select the appropriate waste code, use the Waste Description dropdown menu. You can either scroll through the options or type in the search field to locate the desired code. Click on the code to select it.

- Click the Waste Classification dropdown menu and click to select Hazardous

- If you select Hazardous additional fields will appear. You must specify the Hazardous properties that apply to your waste.
- Click to check all applicable properties from the following options:
- Flammable (Flash point): Flash point < 61°C
- Corrosive (pH): pH < 2 or > 12.5
- Oxidizing: Potential to explosively decompose or react dangerously with other substances
- Leachable Toxic (metals, BTEX, PCBs): Contains substances that generate toxic leachate when subjected to Toxic Characteristic Leaching Procedure (TCLP).
- These characteristics determine if the waste qualifies as DOW (Dangerous Oilfield Waste) under regulations. Selecting one or more of these properties indicates the waste is classified as DOW due to those specific attributes.
- For example, a waste with a flash point below 61°C is considered flammable and must be handled with proper precautions to ensure safe transportation and management.
4. Complete Shipping Information
- Locate the UN Number/TDG Shipping Name dropdown. This dropdown contains a combination of a four-digit number and a descriptive name that identifies a dangerous good as per TDG Regulations.
- Click the dropdown menu and click to choose the appropriate UN Number / TDG Shipping Name. Click the dropdown and select the applicable option. Based on the properties chosen earlier, some options may be greyed out, indicating they are not applicable.
- If you do not see the UN Number you need for your waste in the dropdown menu, simply type in the four-digit UN number, while still in the dropdown menu, and click 'Create [UN Number]'. Enter the associated TDG Shipping Name.
- Ensure that this UN Number/TDG Shipping Name is correct, as it will reflect on the manifest.
- Fill out the NOS if applicable by typing in the field.
- NOS refers to the technical name of the most hazardous component within the waste stream—the substance responsible for classifying the waste as hazardous.
For example, in a slop emulsion (a mixture of oil, water, and solids), the component that makes it hazardous is petroleum crude oil. Identifying the most dangerous component ensures proper classification and handling of the waste.

- After selection, certain fields will auto-populate, sometimes including the class and subclass.
- Click the dropdown menu and select the Packing Group from the dropdown list. This indicates the degree of danger of the product based on TDG Regulations.
- Type to input the estimated volume in the provided text box and select the appropriate units of measure by clicking the dropdown menu and selecting from the dropdown list.
- Type in the Packaging Number, which indicates the number of packages containing the waste.
- Click the dropdown menu and select the Packaging Code to specify the type of packaging used.
- Click the dropdown menu and select the Handling Code, which denotes the method of handling at the receiving location.
5. Add Notes and Attachments
- By clicking in the "Notes" section, you can type in add any relevant information you would like the transporter and receiving facility to see.
- If necessary, attach files such as proof of classification, pictures of the waste, Safety Data Sheets (SDS), or analytical reports by clicking on 'Attach file' and uploading the file.
